Half day tech summit exploring the regional tech & digital economy and showcasing the talent in South Yorkshire.
The challenge
South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and Barnsley’s Digital Campus (The Seam) came together to run the first tech summit in South Yorkshire. The purpose of the event was to bring together industry experts, business leaders and senior decision makers from across the region and beyond to hear from a range of thought leaders on the importance of a vibrant tech and digital economy in the region. The client came to us to help design an engaging agenda and deliver a seamless event with a wow factor.

The outcome
We worked alongside a small planning team to design a varied and inspiring agenda. The programme included an official opening from Oliver Coppard, Mayor of South Yorkshire, a diverse panel discussion on what makes a regional ecosystem successful and some success stories from the TEAM SY programmes. The event was brought to a close by international key-note speaker Gary Stewart, MD of Techstars NYC, who gave a powerful talk on levelling up.
In addition, the event launched the new Tech Welcome Grants, funded by SYMCA, and the South Yorkshire Tech 100 report, which provided some actionable takeaways from the day. On the day, we also hosted a networking lunch and a drinks reception to give attendees ample opportunity to network.
The event was held in the Imax screen in the newly opened Cineworld in Barnsley. We created an intimate ‘lounge feel’ on the stage to contrast the enormity of the screen. We worked alongside an amazing team to create digital content for the day, including 3 promotional videos and screen animations. On theme with the setting, each guest received a small, branded box of popcorn on arrival.
The event was attended by 190 delegates, with plans already underway for tech summit 2023.
