The challenge
Migration Yorkshire supports people and organisations to achieve the most positive outcomes of migration for everyone in the Yorkshire and Humber region. Every year, they organise the Yorkshire Integration Festival, a free, family-friendly one day event that is a celebration of the positive impact made by migrants and refugees in Yorkshire and Humber. It showcases the diverse range of cultures and customs in Yorkshire and Humber that make our region a special place to live. They recruited us to help with the delivery of the 2023 event.

The outcome
The event took place in the Peace Gardens in Sheffield City Centre, welcoming around 2,000 visitors. It offered a diverse and exciting programme, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere that celebrates culture, diversity, and community. From kids activities, musical entertainment and roaming performers to exhibition, market stalls and food stalls, the festival provided something for everyone. It was a day full of entertainment, education, and the opportunity to connect with people from various backgrounds.
Working in collaboration with Migration Yorkshire and the host Local Authority, our team delivered a range of services to ensure successful event delivery. We took on a project management role. We also played a pivotal role in infrastructure planning, offering guidance on the necessary resources for the event. We sourced and coordinated all event infrastructure, ensuring value for money. Some of the infrastructure included AV & staging, marquees, tables and chairs, portaloos, fencing, power, waste management, event security, and medical crew. We designed the event site plan to ensure effective and safe event layout. We provided H&S management to ensure the event adhered to all legal requirements, encompassing risk management, risk assessments, health and safety, security, and safeguarding. Through the entire process, we provided support and guidance to contractors, suppliers, and the Migration Yorkshire project team, culminating in overseeing delivery during the site build, the event day, and the derig.
