Bootcamp programme supporting CleanTech innovators in Wyre Forest and Worcestershire to help scale their businesses.
The challenge
Wyre Forest District Council and Betaden (Worcestershire LEP) came together to pilot a CleanTech bootcamp based in Wyre Forest. The primary focus of the bootcamp was to provide – and to further create – investment into local, growing businesses that are developing technology solutions to address climate change and environmental issues. The ambition was to stimulate technology entrepreneurism in North Worcestershire, promote low and zero-carbon technologies, and increase industrial engagement. The client recruited us to provide project management services and ensure the successful delivery of the bootcamp.

The outcome
We worked closely with the client, programme and marketing contractors over a 12 month period to successfully deliver the bootcamp.
We recruited and onboarded 9 companies across the whole programme, exceeding our original target of 8 companies supported. Each company was at a different stage of development, requiring support tailored to their individual business needs. Each of the companies progressed their innovations over the course of the programme.
Participating companies benefited from dedicated CleanTech specialist mentor support, virtual and in person workshops, connections to local networks and potential customers, as well as grant support. The participants were also able to use a dedicated office / collaboration space for the duration of the programme. In addition, they had an opportunity to showcase their innovations and present to an audience of local businesses, council representatives and other stakeholders at a pitch and showcase day. All companies made useful connections as a result of the event.
The project successfully delivered the target outcomes, on schedule and within budget.
